Ping G2 Driver Review

The best Ping Driver ever? Read our Ping G2 Driver Review

When I had the new Ping G2 Driver in my hands I was really suprised: the first time that a Ping Driver really looks beautiful, even with the 460cc head.

The head is really big, but after 20 balls on the range you get used to it. The club is very ease to hit with a high penetraring ball flight. And wow this Driver is really long. I gained around 10-15 yards compared to my Taylor
Made R320 Driver. The error tolerance is amazing, even misshits have an acceptable length.

The standard shaft for the G2 driver is the PING TFC 100 D, a lightweight, high performance shaft designed to complement the G2 driver. The TFC 100 D shaft is available in L, Soft R, R, S & X flexes. To provide a greater range of fitting options, PING also offers two popular after-market shaft options for the G2 Driver - the Aldila NV 65 and the Grafalloy ProLaunch 65, both in R, S & X flexes. Lofts: 7° • 8.5° • 10° • 11.5°

I tested the standard, the Grafalloy Blue Launch R65 and the Aldila NV65 R shaft. Based on my swing speed of 92mph I went for the 10° loft with the Grafalloy ProLaunch 65 regular shaft. I'm very happy with this combination and get a long and high ball flight. If you have a swing speed over 100mph I recommend to play the Aldila NV65 stiff shaft. For swing speeds between 93-99mph either go for the Grafalloy Pro Launch 65 stiff or the Aldila NV65 regular shaft.

This is my favorite driver in 2005 and replaced my Taylor Made instantly with the new Ping G2.

Product Description:

The new PING G2 Driver meets the needs of all Golfers,  from Tour players to
high handicappers. It was proven on Tour only one week after its debut when
Mark Hensby claimed his first-ever PGA Tour title at the John Deere Classic.
It's internal weighting system ensures a lower spin rate and higher launch angle
which means more distance.

With the G2 Driver, PING engineers have again raised the bar in driver design.
Longer, straighter and more forgiving than any PING driver to date, the G2 utilizes
advanced design techniques and manufacturing processes to
improve performance for golfers of all abilities.
